This study was done on meadows in close vicinity of power plants, Gryfskand plant, hospital, waste dumps and most busy road crossings in the district. The content of some heavy metals was assessed in the plants growing in these meadows. The highest content was found in the sward collected in the vicinity of the hospital, border crossing, and crossing of roads: Pyrzyce-Stare Czarnowo-Gryfino. Plants from the majority of the testet sites contained large amounts of lead and iron, whose concentrations often exceeded those considered to be toxic, and small amounts of copper and zinc. In successive years a growing accumulation of lead, copper and iron could be seen. No such tendency had been observed as far as the content of zinc concerned, though it differed greatly
