The total content of heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb, Ni, Co, Cd and Cr) was analysed in 25 samples of sediments after ore flotation. Among these heavy metals the highest content of copper and lead was found in sediments. The content of copper is substantially higher then average values for soils in Poland and in the most of the samples of sediments exceeded the standards for agricultural as well as industrial areas. The content of lead exceeded the standards for agricultural areas but did not exceed the amounts acceptable for industrial areas. The elevated content of manganese and cobalt but the amounts of these elements did not exceed the standards. The concentrations of Fe, Zn, Ni, Cd and Cr in sediments are in the ranges of average contents of these metals in soils of Poland
