Determination of phosphorus in mineral feeds and feed mixtures

In this paper, the results of quantitative determination of phosphorus in biological material and mineral feeds which are commonly used in the production of feed mixtures, are presented. After being prepared, the samples are analysed for phosphorus by using spectrophotometric method and basic solution needed for determination of phosphorus and made by different physico-chemical procedures (dry procedure, wet procedure and direct procedure by solving the feed in concentrated HCl). It was found that all analysis procedures for making the basic solution are not specific ones and therefore did not give the proper results. The values can be reduced by 90% if dry procedure is used and practically theoretical values of phosphorus is obtained when wet procedure is used.
