Lamb meat consumption research in our country [Serbia]

Lamb meat represents a high-quality food in a proper consumer diet and comprises exceptional dietetic characteristics. However, apart from indisputable nutritious significance, it is relatively little present in a diet in our country. According to the realised consumption of 2.8 kg per capita annually (2002), our country is the twelfth in Europe. In the domestic meat consumption structure it represents 5.3%. The research objective is to determine why the consumption of this type of meat is at such a low level in our country, i.e. which factors have determined its consumption, as well as to show the way to increase the consumption.
