The forage yield and quality of double-cropped maize hybrids

The paper presents study results on the forage yield and quality of double-cropped NS-101, NS-201, NS-251 and NS-303 maize hybrids. Based upon two-year results, at the time of cutting, an average of 64.200 plants/ha was achieved. Average plant weight was 1.1 kg, or the yield produced averaged 71.5 t/ha of green fodder or 21.7 t/ha of dry matter. At the time of cutting, the dry matter share was 30.8; on average, which was favourable for quality silage making. The dry matter quality of the maize hybrids was very good.
