The intesification of agricultural production, as well as, the utilization of high yielding varieties and hybrids has led to significant crop genetic variability narrowing. Locally grown wheat, rye and barley populations have been of satisfactory quality and good adaptability for the given growth conditions, but the yield level has been quite low. The investigation in the mountain areas of Montenegro revealed cereal biodiversity erosion. But there are still traces of lost biodiversity, worth to be collected.
