Basic mechanical, physical and chemical characteristics of soil were studied in an experimental area at the Research-Experimental Station of the Slovak University of Agriculture, Nitra, location Kolinany. A soil subtype under investigation was Haplic Luvisols (HMa), clearly affected by antropogenic activity, the soil profile stratigraphy being Akp (cultisol horizon) - Bt (illuvial luvic horizon) - B/C - Cc (calcareous parent material). According to the content of particles 0.01 mm, humus horizon (Akp cultisol horizon) was sand-loamy (25.60%), with the middle content of humus (2.149%), and a ratio of humic-acid: fulvic-acid was 0.67 in basic probe. The amount of structural aggregates, whose size is the best (0.5-3.0 mm), was 28.66% and that of water-resistant aggregates of the same size was 62.04% in this part of soil profile. The parameters of basic chemical characteristics of the soil of the united probe of whole area under study indicated high variability in the soil environment. Organic carbon content (Cox) was lower or middle (a range of 0.96 to 1.31%) and soil reaction in KCl was strong acid or acid (a range of 4.59 to 5.39 pH). For this soil type parameters of soil sorption were typical. A content of basic exchangeable cations (S) ranged from 127.76 to 197.31 mmol/kg and hydrolytic acidity (Ha) was very strong acid in all fertilization treatments. The average values of a content of basic exchangeable cations had a tendency to decrease in the sequence of Ca Mg Na K in a soil colloid complex.
