This paper deals with the impact of organic selenium supplement (in form of Sel-Plex preparate) in the fodder on production, physical and chemical properties as well as with the impact of the antioxidative status of muscles m. longissimus thorasis (MLT) and m. semimembranosus (MSM) on the selenium content in the meat of hybrid carcass pigs. Organic selenium (0.3 mg Se per kilogramme of the standard diet OS-3 and OS-6) was applied during 97-day fattening of pigs. The application of organic selenium into the standard feed mixtures for pigs has a positive effect on selenium content in pork (that is important for selenium transfer to the meat products for people) and antioxidative status of muscles of meat hybrid pigs.
