Performance and productivity of agriculture and agricultural enterprises and the Slovak accession into the European Union

The contribution deals with the analysis of performance and productivity of the Slovak agriculture and agrarian enterprises in the period before the EU accession. Performance of our agriculture and its enterprises falls behind the EU countries. We can find the biggest lag ofp erformance by land and labour productivity and the amount and efficiency of inputs transformation. The comparison of mentioned indicators in 1998-2002 outlined only a slow improvement of performance parameters of Slovak enterprises. It also outlined the persisting considerable differentiation among the enterprises farming in similar production conditions.
