Histological structure of reproductive organs of seahorse Hippocampus kuda (Bleeker), 8-month old reared in Laboratory: [Technical paper no. 70/1996]

Reproductive organs of 8-month old seahorse Hippocampus kuda (Bleeker) reared in laboratory were processed by paraffin technique. This organ tissues were cut section in 6 micro m thickness and were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin, and Masson ยs trichrome. The results show that the ovary consist of two type of tissue as ovarian lumen and ovarian lamellae. Ovarian lumen were determine as simple squamous epithelium. Immature cells were found in ovarian lamellae, oogonia and primary oocytes stages. Seminiferous tubules are found in testis with spermatogonia cells and sertoli cells. Spermatogonia cells had mitosis as prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.
