.A comparative study of the Biovet antimicrobial drug Tilmovet 20 % premix (TMV) with Tilmicosin sulphat as an active component, which is new for Bulgaria, was carried out in a pig complex with PRRS and frequent cases of secondary bacterial diseases in the growing pigs. As a control was used the analog 'Pulmotil 20 % premix' (PT) of Elanco. The two premixes were given to groups of 148 pigs at a prophylactic concentration of 1 kg/t forage from the 1-st to 15-th day and from the 31-th to 37-th day after weaning. Clinical and pathological examinations were performed. Bacteriological tests were performed on the samples from the internal organs and on the nasal and rectal tampon samples from life pigs taken on the 1, 6, 15, 30 and 37-th day. The sensitivity of the isolated pathogenic strains to tilmicosin and other antimicrobial drugs was tested. It was found that the isolated strains were sensitive (P. multocida), intermediately sensitive (A. pleuropneumoniae and H. parasuis), and intermediately sensitive and resistant (Staphylococcus spp, E. coli and Klebsiella). The metaphylactic treatments with TMV and PT decreased the morbidity and mortality caused by the secondary bacterial infections and ensured the transfer to fattening stage of 89.2 % and 88.5 % of the pigs, respectively. As a whole, the economic results for both groups were similar by value and the comparison showed that the effectiveness of the preparations was equavalent.
