Stress (or the general adaptable syndrome) is a necessary link of nonspecific reactance of the organism, one of stages of its adaptation to life conditions for homeostasis preservation. Last years in connection with deterioration of ecological conditions heightened interest to action of stresses-factors on plants. One of stresses-factors is influence of heavy metals on plants. For today the considerable information on their phytotoxicity which depends on a number of factors is collected: 1)interactions of metals with soil (availability of heavy metals to plants); 2)abilities of metals to get in plant and character of their distribution in various organs and tissues; 3) toxicity degrees at cellular-fabric level and character of damages caused by them. Results of research of culture tolerance to action of cadmium ions are presented. At all plants considerable differences from the control already in the first variant of experience (0,625 mm CdCl2) were observed. The increase in concentration of salt led to considerable reduction of length of measured backs. The comparative analysis of a tolerance index at all samples has shown, that the steadiest against cadmium ions are barley and winter rye. Among leguminous cultures field pea has higher stability. It is established, that the optimal concentration of CdCl2 are the 1,25 mM solution. The highest concentration caused morphological changes of plants. As results of research have shown, with decrease in activity of antioxidizing enzymes also the general antioxidatic closely correlated activity of leaves of all studied cultures. At cereal cultures the general antioxidatic activity changed slightly from action of heavy metals ions while at bean cultures influence was in larger degrees (on 39,9% and 26,4% accordingly at lupin and peas). It is necessary to notice, that plant genotypes having higher index of tolerance possess also higher antioxidatic activity
