A study has been done to investigate effects of dietary metabolisable energy levels on physiological of local buck kept at high altitudes in Nupabomba village from May-July 2003. This study employed 15 local buck aged about 1 year and weighted 10-16 kg and was designed with a block randomized design. The experimental animals were blocked according to their initial body weight before experiment started. Treatments tested were R0 = 1.00 x maintenance requirements (M), R1 = 1.25 M, R2 = 1.50 M, R3 = 1.75 M, R4 = 2.00 M. Variance analysis which was employed to test any significant difference showed that the dietary metabolisable energy level significantly (P less than 0.01) affected physiological conditions (temperature, respiration and pulse frequencies) of the experimental animals. Differences among some of the treatments were also significant The higher dietary metabolisable energy levels the better physiological conditions observed in the animals.
