[email protected] Cold stress is one of the most important abiotic stress in cold region of the world. The yield of autumn planting is higher than spring planting due to benefit of winter rainfall and higher water-use efficiency. The objective of the present study was to evaluate chickpea promising lines for reaction to cold in controlled condition. The experimental material comprised 14 chickpea varieties in RCBD in two replications. Experiment was conducted in the pots in green house. The pots were transferred to controlled condition after three weeks of germination, where these hardened at 4 C o for 20 days. After initial hardening the pots were kept at 0, -3, -6, -9, -12, -15 and -18 C o for two hours under each temperature in the in controlled condition. Subsequently the pots were transferred for 12 hours to 4 C o. The results of present study showed that Bivanij plants were killed in –6 C o. But FLIP 93-93, Arman, Hasham, jam could resistance to -9 C o. SEL 93 TH 24460 could resistance to -12 C o. Four lines such as SEL95TH 1716, SEL93TH 24477, ILC 82 62, SEL 96TH 11439 were resistant to -15 C o. Sel 96 th 11439, SEL 93 TH 24477 , Sel 95 th1716 were moderately resistant to -18 C o.
