This study was carried out to investigate the effect of using subsoiler in stripe tillage and conventional tillage on yield of oil sunflower as well as water use. The research was carried out in Isfahan Mahyar lands (30km south) in the first year (2002) and in Kaboutar abad research station (23km southeast) in the second year(2003). The experiments performed using block randomize design with 3 replications. in clouding 1-conventional tillage and flat planting (T1) 2-Conventional tillage + sub soiling and flat planting (T2) 3- Conventional tillage+furrow planting (T3) 4- Stripe tillage and flat planting (T4) 5- Stripe tillage+subsoling and flat planting (T5) in second year all experiments were repeated and striped tillage+furrowing + planting into it, was added as 6th treatment (T6) Bulk density, cone index, thousand seed weight, seed yield, oil content, sunflower head diameter, height plant, steam diameter, plant dry weight, root length and infiltration rate were measured. The results indicated that there no significant difference on bulk density in two years. in the first year cone index was smaller in (T2) and (T5) in 10-20 and 30-40 centimeter of depth. The quality indicated that oil content in (T3) in the first year, and steam diameter in(T6) in the second year were significantly lower and higher than other treatments respectively. infiltration rate was greater in subsoiling tillage than in conventional tillage in second year. The subsoiling whit high cost, did not affected sunflower yield so it is not recommended to use it in Mahyar and Kabotarabad area. If stripe tillage equipments are available, this method of tillage can be recommended to use. Key world: sunflower- primary tillage-moldboard plow-subsoiler
