Sarsaife, Mohammad
In order to determine the effects of leaf removal and time of leaf removal on yield of strawberry cultivars, this experiment was conducted from 2000 to 2003 as a randomized complete block design with a factorial arrangement and three replications. Plots completely defoliated once(on 20 June,20 July) and for each cultivar made a check with any leaf removal and three introduced cultivars of strawberry, Fresno, Missionary, and kurdistan, were used. In this experiment several characters such as the time of fruit ripening, Fruit yield, Fruit weight, Number of crown, Number of fruit truss and surface of leaf were measured. Variance analysis and comparing of means using Duncan's method indicated that: 1-Defoliation, year and variety have high significant effects on yield for each three cultivars. 2-Interaction effect between cultivar and defoliation was significant. 3- Compare means indicated that Missionary Cultivar located in class A, Kurdistan cultivar in B and Fresno in AB. 4- The best result in this experiment was Leaf removal of Missionary cultivar on 20 June. 5- The second result was Leaf removal of Fresno cultivar on 20 July. 6 - The third result was Leaf removal of Kurdistan cultivar on 20 June.
