Two local carrot populations of Isfahan and Naieen studied and selected. In 1993, collected seeds of each location has been cultured. It used progeny testing method for genotype selection. At first year (1993), morphological characters measured such as shape, color, size of root tubers and type, vigority, resistance of root tubers and plants. After harvesting and evaluating of 4000 carrot plants, 751 root tubers selected out of two local populations. In second year (1994), selected root tubers planted with 1500 meters distance for isolation between two populations. Selection was base on the seed yield. Measured characters included seed yield, width of inflorescence, plant cover, height of plant, number of umbel and umbellat in each plant, number of flower in each umbellat. Seeds of each plants harvested separately and weighed. They comprised and selected which seed yields were higher than the means of population. In each population, Selections were gathered and introduced for further researches.
