Italian potential areas for energy dedicated crops

Inglés. Energy production levels for ethanol and biodiesel chains have been compared in different areas. Knowledge of production and transformation phases is suitable to start both chains on large scale. Only crops already diffused in the area have been considered for both chains. Wheat, barley, maize, sorghum and sugar beet are considered with regards to ethanol chain; oilseed rape, sunflower and soybean concerning biodiesel chain. Energy balances and, more in detail, gains and ratio between outputs and inputs have been studied to develop operative choices based on real productive levels of Italian provinces over relevant surfaces. Contrary to what it is frequently pointed out, it comes out that energy crops cannot be properly cultivated when production is low. It seems that crops of both chains can be of great interest for many Italian areas with the aim to give more sustainability to agriculture and also to fulfil EU directive and our International commitments
Mostrar más [+] Menos [-]Italiano. [Sono stati confrontati, in diverse aree, i livelli di produzione energetica delle filiere etanolo e biodiesel. La conoscenza delle fasi di produzione e trasformazione è sufficiente per avviare ambedue le filiere su vasta scala. In ambedue i casi sono state prese in considerazione solo le colture già diffuse nell'area. Sono considerati il frumento, orzo, mais, sorgo e barbabietola da zucchero per la filiera etanolo e colza, girasole e soia per il biodiesel. Sono stati studiati i bilanci energetici e, più in dettaglio, i guadagni e il rapporto fra output e input, allo scopo di elaborare scelte operative basate sui reali livelli produttivi delle province italiane con areali coltivati sopra una certa consistenza. Al contrario di quanto viene affermato di frequente, risulta che le colture energetiche non possono essere effettuate appropriatamente in condizioni di bassa produttività. Si può ritenere che le colture di ambedue le filiere possano essere di grande interesse per molte aree italiane, con l'obiettivo di conferire maggiore sostenibilità all'agricoltura e pure di adempiere alla direttiva dell'UE e ai nostri impegni internazionali.]
