Studies on caper populations grown in Apulia region [Capparis spinosa L.; Capparis ovata Desf.]

Inglés. Studies on the main morphological characteristics of two populations of caper belonging to Capparis spinosa L. (Locale di Veglie) and C. ovata Desf. (Calabrese) grown in Apulia region (Southern Italy) are reported. More than 60 characteristics regarding flowering, fructification, seed yield and quality were recorded. Plant of C. ovata, compared to the ones of C. spinosa, had less stems per plant (20 vs 110), but longer (183 vs 110 cm) and more branched, less flower buds (capers) per stem (4 vs 16), later flowering and lower percentage of fertilization of flowers. Caper berries weight (caper fruit, 585 vs 1,340 g), seed yield per plant (59 vs 75 g) and germination percentage (26 vs 48%) were lower in C. ovata compared to C. spinosa
Mostrar más [+] Menos [-]Italiano. [Il presente lavoro riguarda la caratterizzazione di due popolazioni pugliesi di cappero appartenenti a Capparis spinosa L. (Locale di Veglie) e a C. ovata Desf. (Calabrese), effettuata in Puglia, con particolare riguardo alla fioritura, fruttificazione, produzione e qualità del seme. Sono state registrate più di 60 caratteristiche. Le piante di C. ovata, rispetto a quelle di C. spinosa, presentavano meno fusti per pianta (20 vs 1109), ma più lunghi (183 vs 110 cm) e più ramificati, meno boccioli fiorali (capperi) per fusto (4 vs 16), fioritura più tardiva e minore percentuale di fecondazione dei fiori. Il peso delle bacche per pianta (585 vs 1.340), la resa in semi per pianta (59 vs 75 g) e la percentuale di germinabilità (26 vs 48%) erano inferiori in C. ovata rispetto a C. spinosa.]
