Yields and forage value of white clover-grass mixtures grown on different type of soil
2006
Harasim, J.,Instytut Uprawy Nawozenia i Gleboznawstwa, Pulawy (Poland)
This study was run on the suitability of different implemented soil types to grow binary white clover-grass mixtures in the 1994-99. The seeds were sown in the spring of 1994 without a cover crop at the rate of 10 milion seeds per 1 ha and with the components seeded at a ratio of 50 to 50 percent. Liming and NPK fertilization was applied prior to seeding at rates adjusted to soil pH and native nutrient supply. Yileds of the mixtures were found to be modified by weather and soil conditions. The highest yields were obtained on the cambisol (brown soil) and on the fluvisol (alluvial soil) and the lowest on the rendzina soil. Grass species had no significant effect on the yield
