The contents of selenium in soils of grassland in the environs of Wroclaw [Poland]

The goal of conducted in 2002-04 study was determination of selenium content in grassland soils of Wroclaw (Poland) environs, as well as evaluation of influence of some chemicophysical properties on selenium content in soils. In research were included 42 grasslands on teritory of 4 regions and comprised 30 meadows and 12 pastures. The study included only those lands, the green growth was used as green forage for milk cattle. Soils of researched grasslands characterized of low selenium content - there was detected from 42-695 mcg/kg in surface layer and 73 to 580 mcg/kg in deper one. Almost 93 percent of exercised samples revealed content of selenium lower than 300 mcg/kg, and the soil of 6 meadows included less than 100 mcg/kg - value acknowledged as critical
