Soil types and plant associations above the secondary forest border on poloninas in Chernohora Mountains

The aim of the study was to proof the relations between existing soil types and formation of definite plant communities and their changes in condition of moderate environmental impact, or under limited extensive grazing by cattle and sheeps. The phytosociological and soil investigations were conducted in the alpine and subalpine belt of Chernohora Mountains in 2001-03. Three soil types were identified. Phytosociological investigations carried out simultaneously, indicated that particular plant associations occurs on specific soil types. Alpine phytocoenoses Caricetum sempervirentis and Rododendretum myrtifolii occurs on Lithic Leptosols
