The results of comparison of mineral nutrient management taking into account economic and environmental effects in four selected farms with different profiles of production were presented in the paper. The results of the soil surface nutrient balance and the analysis of the economic production coefficients showed that recently well developed farms pay to little attention at the proper management of mineral nutrients. The level of fertilization did not take into account soil fertility, organic fertilizer resources in a farm and nutrient requirements of crops. Mineral fertilization was mainly perceived by the prism of short-term effects on crops yield and concerns mainly nitrogen forms. It was stated that significant threats to the environment may appear on the specialized farms with intensive animal production
