The productive effect of perforated foil and polypropylene fibre covers used at diverse length period of plants covering (to 2 and 3 weeks after plants emergence) in cultivation of early potato cultivars (Aster, Cykada) was estimated. The use of covers resulted in an increase in the marketable tuber yield - 60 days after planting by 23 to 50 percent on average in the years with warmer spring and almost 4.5 times on the average in the year with cold spring. After 2 weeks delay of potato harvest only in the year with cold spring, the marketable tuber yield was higher by 38 percent on average. The kind of cover had greater influence on tuber yield of cv. Cykada. The date of removal cover did not have a significant effect on the quantity of tuber yield
