In order to determine dynamics of transformations of soils exposed to strong industrial pressure during many-years, comparative studies were conducted on five soil profiles located from 0.4 to 2.5 km away from the Cement Plant Nowiny. Some properties of soils determined in 1978 were compared with respective values from 2005. Significant changes in CaCO3, C org., and total phosphorus contents, pH value, exchangeable and hydrolytic acidity and saturation of sorption complex with alkaline cations were revealed. These changes were the largest in the active surface of soil horizons to the depth of 25 cm in Haplic Podzol and Haplic Luvisol with low buffering capacity
