Estimation of solar radiation intercepted by potato canopy during the vegetation period

Two Polish potato cultivars with very early yielding were grown in a field experiment (2001-02) at three nitrogen levels: 0, 100 and 200 kg/ha at the Experimental Station in Jadwisin (Poland). Total radiation (Ra) and PAR data was obtained from the Campbell weather station located in Jadwisin. Total IPAR by potato crops was calculated for three periods: from full emergence until 60 days after planting (DAP), 0-75 DAP, 0 DAP - end of vegetation. Total energy PAR intercepted by potato plants dependent on the length of tested period, nitrogen dose, year of cultivation and variety. It amounted between 80 and 359 MJ/square m
