The object of work was spring barley stem base, Rataj cultivar harvested in 2004, 2005 and 2006. During vegetation period 17 different fungicides were applied, to be compared to untreated control. Infestation index depended on weather conditions during the experiment. The highest level of this index gained in 2004 (3.3), and the lowest in 2005 (2.4). The most numerous pathogen species were Cochliobolus sativus, Drechslera graminea, and Fusarium spp., especially F. culmorum and F. graminearum. Among saprophyte species the most numerous one was Alternaria alternata. Fungi occurring differences were statistically significant only in case of the year of harvest, except the Fusarium genus
