INIBAP annual report 2005
2006
This 20th anniversary edition of the INIBAP annual report has four articles followed by an institutional summary of the institute's current research agenda, governance and finances. The articles present the 'state of the art' in each of INIBAP's main areas of concern: conserving Musa diversity, understanding that diversity (especially through molecular studies), using both genetic diversity itself and our knowledge of diversity in crop breeding, and managing diversity for more sustainable production and more profitable post-harvest market links. The report also features work carried out at the INIBAP transit centre at Belgium in serving as a hub for germplasm movement; the International Musa Testing Programme (IMTP) to evaluate across a wide range of growing conditions the banana hybrids produced by breeders; and work concerning the bacterial and viral diseases of Banana
