This paper presents the survey of weed flora of cereal fields in the area of the Republic of Serbia. The analysis of relevant literature sources, combined with author research, showed that the weed flora of cereal fields is rich and diverse. Within the cereal fields, 217 weed species were recorded. Most weeds are not narrowly specialized, but instead appear among several kinds of crops. This shows that the weed plants have a wide ecological valence for quite a number of factors. Among the weed species of cereal fields, five types of life forms were recorded, with a clearly pronounced codominant relationship of therophytes and hemicryptophytes (T:H=32,26%:31.80%). Also important is particiation of geophytes (8.29%), which, due to their well-developed underground organs, represent a great problem for eradication. The phytogeographic analysis shows the dominance of the Eurasian, central European and sub-Mediterranean floristic elements.
