[Efficacy of vitadaptine and germivite for growing calves]

The influence of vitadaptine and a feed additive of germivite produced from wheat germ on the postvaccinal immunity, survivability and development of calves when vaccinated against bovine ARVI with vaccine Kombovak was studied. Germivite was added to the diet instead of RCM during 3 months starting since 80 g/head and ending with 120 g/head a day, vitadaptine – for the fist 3 days of life at the dose of 2 ml/head once a day and twice before vaccination at the dose of 3 ml/head. The efficacy of combine use of vitadaptine and germivite was estimated by the morphobiochemical and immunological parameters of blood, the antibody titer in blood serum and the zootechnical parameters in calves at the age 60 days. As is found, the use of vitadaptine and germivite promoted the normalization of morphological and biochemical blood parameters: an increase in the content of hemoglobin by 19.4%, erythrocytes – by 14.6%, T- and B-lymphocytes – by 50.7 and 10.8%, respectively, the T/B index from 0.93 to 1.24. The antibody titers were higher compared to the control group. On the average, at the end of the experiment a calf of the experimental group weighted more by 11 kg. It is concluded that the use of vitadaptine in early postnatal ontogenesis during the vaccination against bovine ARVI on the background of substituting RCM by a feed additive of germivite increases the efficacy of vaccination, stimulates the growth and development of calves.
