In Serbia, perennial ryegrass breeding goal is creating of cultivars with improved production of quality dry matter and increased acclimatization for local agroecological conditions. As a result of long breeding process the first domestic-breed perennial ryegrass cultivar K-11 is created at the Institute for Forage Crops in Krusevac, Serbia. During two-year investigation period basic morphological and productive traits were scored, while chemical composition of dry matter was determined in the second year. K-11 has reached average two-year dry matter yield of over 6.4 t/ha without irrigation, or 900 kg/ha more than standard cultivar. On locality of Krusevac new cultivar has showed crude protein yield over 814 kg/ha.
