Effect of sowing mode on seed yield and yield components of alfalfa cultivar NS Slavija was investigated in agroecological conditions of Nis (Serbia). The three sowing modes were studied, with inter-row distances of 20 cm, 40 cm and 60 cm. The highest seed yield was obtained with inter-row distance of 40 cm (311 kg/ha), and the lowest one with the distance of 60 cm (264.8 kg/ha). The highest number of inflorescences per stem (14.4), pods per inflorescence (8.10) and grains per pod (4.18) was obtained with inter-row distance of 60 cm. Significat strong positive correlations were established between seed yield and number of pods per inflorescence (r=0.764), number of grains per pod (r=0.719), and a bit weaker one between seed yield and number of inflorescence per stem (r=0.389).
