Molecular methods for detection are based on genetic properties of fungi. Ribosomal genes 18S, 5, 8S, and ITS, IGS spacer regions of ribosomal DNA subunits and mitochondria ribosomal genes are the most investigated regions. Fungi can be detected by different molecular methods such as electrophoresis of nucleic acid, restriction analyses, hybridization of DNA and PCR amplification.
