A total of 830 plant taxa were identified in a long-term floristic investigation of saline pastures in the Banat region of the Vojvodina Province (Serbia). Of that number, 401 taxa were found on saline pastures in the northern part of the investigated region. Of the 401 taxa found in the flora of saline pastures in northern Banat, 361 taxa were used for phytogeographic analysis (347 species, 13 subspecies and the variety Aster tripolium var. pannonicus (Jacq.) because of its specific importance. The phytogeographic analysis distinguished between the groups of plants with wide distribution (cosmopolitan, circumpolar, Eurasian, European and adventive) and those with more limited distribution (Pannonian, Pontic, continental, Mediterranean, Atlantic-Mediterranean, Central European, Balkan and Dacian).
