A research of weed flora of row crops (maize, sunflower and soybean) was conducted at 49 localities in Macva (Serbia) during the vegetation seasons of 2005, 2006 and 2007. The examined area totalled 86,000 ha, of which arable soil accounted for 68,400 ha. Maize is grown on 23,392 ha, soybean on 1,500 and sunflower on 300 ha. Taxonomical examination of weed flora indicated a relatively high diversity. A total 148 species of vascular plants falling in 105 genara, 37 families and two divisions were found. The division Equisetophyta is represented by one weed species, and the division Magnoliophyta by 147 species belonging to 104 genera and 36 families. An analysis of spectrum of weed flora in Macva row crops indicates a predominant presence (68.91%) of plant belonging to the most frequent floral elements (Eurasian 39.86%, cosmopolitan 11.48%, circumpolar 6.76% and adventive 10.81%). The group of floral elements of low incidence in the analyzed flora accounted for 31,05% (Central European 14.28%, sub-Mediteranean 14,28%). The data obtained are significant in terms of enabling successful protection of crops, especially by application of herbicides in the growing of maize, sunflowers and soybeans.
