Basic cations variability in selected soil type groups of Slovakia

This paper is focused on evaluation of basic cations in homogeneously prepared samples and in surface and core of soil aggregates. For determination of soil varability 11 soil samples of Cambisols (located in Kysuce region used as arable land developed on Flysh belt) were colected from the depth 0 -- 10 cm and segregated in surface and core of soil aggregates by Kayzer. Mobile and easily mobile fractions of basic cations Mg, Ca, K (analysed by Zeien and Brummer) were determined in surface and core of soil aggregates. Higher content of nutrients (mobile and easily mobile Ca and Mg) in core of aggregates were found, opposite to K content, which was higher in surface. From the viewpoint of Spearman correlation analyses available content of K was in relation with soil reaction in surface as well as in core of soil aggregates. Basic cations in samples of selected soil groups of Partial Monitoring System -- Soil were analysed. The soil samples were sampled from the depth 0 -- 10 cm. Basic cations Mg, Ca, K have been determined (Fiala et al., 1999). The highest portion of Ca in sum of basic cations were found (with the exception of salt-affected soils). Relation between Ca2+ : Mg2+ move from 1.7 : 1 (Rendzic Leptosols used as arable land) to 10.7 : 1 (Eutric Cambisols on carbonate substrates used as grassland).
