Foreign capital in selected branches of the Slovak food industry

The paper presents the wide database concerning the access of foreign capital to the food industry as a whole and selected food branches (milk industry, brewery industry, malt industry, sugar industry, production of alcoholic beverages, malt industry and alcohol industry). It briefly describes the actual development of transformation process of the food industry. It analyses achieved results of the whole food industry and selected food branches on the base of the sector reporting and through selected economic indicators (including the production capacities utilization) in the period of 2000-2004. The volume of foreign capital reached over 16 billion SKK in 2004. Foreign capital affected very significantly the process of restructuring of mentioned branches of the food industry. Its entry into the Slovak food industry was differentiated. The maximum volume of foreign capital supported the brewery-malt industry and the production of non alcoholic beverages.
