2008
Kabakchiev, M., Thracian University, Stara Zagora (Bulgaria)
In the investigation there were included two groups of layer hens kept at equal technological conditions, but under different lighting programs. The first group was kept at a normal 24-hour day and night period, but the second one was at a 22-hour period. Тhe daylight for both groups was equal. The laying rate, mortality, egg mass, morphological parameters of laid eggs and feed consumption were controlled. The obtained results showed a positive effect of the shorter day-night period on the laying rate and egg quality only for a limited number of birds.
