Isolation and identification of goat herpesviruses in Bulgaria

This study describes the isolation and identification of goat herpesvirus originating from farms with clinical and epizootological data for infections.After dexametazone treatment from goat vaginal swabs and bucks preputial washings are isolated viruses with cultural, biochemical, electron microscopy, viral and serological peculiarity for goat herpesviruses. Statistically significant increasing of antibodies with 2 or more logarithms in covalescent sera among goats in the farms where viral isolates are originated, is confirmation for goat herpesvirus circulation in herds.
