Results of field studies of the operational reliability and working capacity of the developed and established in 2002-2006 constructions of absorbing columns KPF-1, KPF-2, KPF-3 and their top water receiving elements designed for the withdrawal of surface waters from the small closed lowlands realized in the conditions of Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus were presented. Research results showed that after 7 years utilization the experimental devices were in good working condition and could successfully realize the withdrawal of the redundant surface waters. In course of the long-term application of sand-gravel filtration media in the central section of the upper elements (the filtration workspace) taking the main amount (95%) of water from the lowland it was stated that the analysed device almost did not impair the initial filtration characteristics. Results of the comparative analysis of granulometric composition of the initial sand-gravel, soil and their mixtures in the upper element of the absorbing column on different areas of Vitebsk region were presented. The agitation took place only over the contour of the upper element to the depth of no more than 10 cm that did not exercise negative influence on the construction working capacity. Filtration coefficients of the filtration workspace media of the upper element after 7 year exploitation were from 7 up to 20 m/day. On the analysed lowlands and the adjacent territories there were stated neither wettings of agricultural crops nor soil overmoisture. The analysed crop seedlings proved to be in the satisfactory condition
