Results of the development of the system of fertilizer application in the vegetable-fodder crop rotations (by the example of carrot (Daucus carota L.) and red beet (Beta vulgaris L.) varieties) cultivated on sod-podzolic, light loamy soils for the improvement of soil fertility, increasing of yielding capacity and production of environmentally sound vegetable products in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus were presented. Research results showed that application of complex fertilizers N120P60K147 made it possible to increase yields of red beet on 13,1 t/ha (29%) and produce the highest yields of 57,8 t/ha. The highest yielding capacity of carrot (42,8 - 44,6 t/ha) was obtained after application of N90P105K120 of simple fertilizer doses and N100P65K108 of complex fertilizers. Carrot yield increases in comparison with the control variant were 9,0-10,8 t/ha (27-30%). Application of the complex fertilizers instead of the simple ones improved the quality of the cultivated vegetable crops. Application of the optimal doses of N120P160K147 of complex fertilizers and N120P90K150 of simple fertilizers lowered the nitrates content in red beet crops on 10-32%. The lowest nitrate accumulation (189-192 mg/k) was stated after application of N85P59K98 and N90P105K120. The highest level (10,1%) of dry matter accumulation in carrot crops was stared after application of N90P105K120
