A survey of helminth control practices in equine establishments in Czech Republic

A survey was done in the Czech Republic in 2006 in order to gain data about the strategy of parasite control and grazing management in horses. Eighty questionnaires were evaluated and 82.5% of horse owners claimed self-responsibility for helminth control. In stabled horses, helminth controls are done every 2-4 months, 55% of respondents do the helminth control in April. The most frequently used drug is Panacur, about 91% of respondents rotate the type of anthelmintic, about 52% rotate pastures and more than 53% clean pastures. About 32% use coprological examinations. Only 17.5% of the horse owners encountered anthelmintic resistance.
