Comprehensive package for improving productivity in mulberry sericulture

Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Berhampore developed a good number of Improved technologies for increasing the leaf and cocoon production viz. biofertilizers, plant growth regulator, labex, low cost rearing tray and crop protection measures In the recent past. Maximum number of farmers have not yet adopted all these technologies and hence the advantages of these technologies have not reached to the farmers towards increase in productivity and economic gain. Comprehensive application of these technologies increased mulberry leaf yield by 17 with the reduction of nitrogen and phosphorus application by 50 and 80 respectively at farmers field. Besides, the cocoon yield was also increased by 8 in multivoltine and 34 in Multi x Bi (F() by the use of comprehensive package over the traditional practices. Further, the economic gain of Rs. 7,116/ha/year was fetched through selling of excess leaves @ Rs. 1.50 per kg by the application of those improved technologies in a comprehensive manner over the traditional practices.
