Effect of botanicals on bacterial blight of rice

To find out the bio efficacy of five botanicals against bacterial blight disease caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. Oryzae and yield of rice, a pot culture experiment was conducted. The pre-inoculation spray with plant extracts was made on 45 days old of rice cultivar ADT38 one day prior to inoculation of the pathogen. Amongh the leaf extracts, Adhatoda vasica wa the most effective in reducing the disease incidence up to 25.37 per cent as compared to control (83.72 per cent) . It significantly increased the yield up to 28.2 g-1 pot of four hills as against 11.8 g in control. Curcuma longa and Allium cepa leaf extracts were next effective treatments.
