Swain, S.N., Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar (India). All India Coordinated Research Project on Sesame
A survey of 8 oilseed crops such as groundnut, mustard, safflower, niger, linseed, sesame sunflower and castor in 10 un-divided districts of Orissa indicated the presence of 14 plant parasitic nematode genera. In consideration of their frequency of occurrence, they are in the descending order of Helicotylenchus, Hoplolaimus, Rotylenchulus, Aphelenchoides, Tylenchorhynchus, Hirschmanniella, Tylenchus, Criconemella, Hemicriconemoides, Pratylenchus, Paralongidorus, Caloosia, Xiphinema and Meloidogyne. The total number of plant parasitic nematode genera were maximum in Puri district (11) but minimum in Keonjhar district. Only three plant parasitic nematode genera Rotylenchulus, Tylenchus and Aphelenchoides were found associated with safflower as against ten plant parasitic nematode genera in groundnut and mustard.
