Decreasing availability of raw material for Iranian wood industries and the necessitate to conserve our limited natural forests initiated research concerning the utilization of waste fibers such as annual pruning of date palm trees. The objective of this investigation is to study the feasibility of using annual pruning and stem of date palm fiber for strengthening polypropylene and polyethylene, thermoplastics produced by Petrochemical Co. in Iran. Three parts of date palm used for fiber preparing consist of stem, leave and midrib. The results of this study are as the follows: • There is no significant difference among of three parts on fiber length despite of longer fiber in stem. • There are significant differences among of three parts on fiber diameter and cell wall thickness that is made the considerable differences on runkle and flexibility coefficients. It would be affect on composite properties. • Comparison between chemical components of date palm and Iranian hardwoods shows that there is priority in utilization of hardwoods for producing of lignocellulosics products.
