Evaluation of Segregating Populations in Barley in Zarghan Station in 2005-2006
2006
Hasani, Fazl Ol-Llah
In the hybridization method of breeding self fertilized crops, two varieties are crossed, and plants in which are combined the desirable feature of the parents are selected from the segregating progenies. Genetic segregation will begin with the F2 generation, and heterozigocity will be reduced by one half with each succeeding self generation. In this evaluation 345 entries of F2 segregating generations and 139 entries of other generations (F3-F5) participated. Modified bulk method was used in selection of plants with desired combination of characters within F2 and F3 generations and for F4 generation, pedigree method was used. In F5 generation in which genetic purity was reached, line selection was done. Among these materials, 101 entries of F2, 19 entries of F3, 51 entries of F4 and 19 lines of F5 were selected.
