To obtain basic data on the miniature pig, we measured the size of the genital organs in five female miniature pigs sacrificed under ketamine anesthesia. The right and left ovaries weighed 5.2±2.2 and 4.5±1.1 g, respectively. The lengths of the genital tract were as follows: uterine tube 182.2±58.8 mm, uterine horn 852.0±102.3 mm, uterine body 17.1±4.2 mm, uterine cervix 89.0±15.1 mm, vagina 91.6±9.3 mm, and vaginal vestibule 46.4±2.5 mm. The diameters of the genital tract were as follows: ampulla of the uterine tube 7.1±0.7 mm, isthmus of the uterine tube 3.8±0.5 mm, uterine horn 22.1±2.6 mm, thin cranial portion of the cervix 16.6±1.4 mm, thick caudal portion of the cervix 26.0±1.6 mm, vagina 16.7±2.9 mm, and vestibule of vagina 19.9±2.3 mm. We found 3.8±1.1 large cervical pulvini and 6.6±1.7 small ones. The pulvini formed 6.6±1.5 folds, and the pudendal cleft was 18.8±3.5 mm long. These results may be helpful in developing the screw type artificial insemination instruments and in comparing data on commercial sows.
