[Influence of homo-and heterozygous states of the RIN, NOR and ALC mutant genes, controlling maturation processes of tomato fruits, on the variability of quantitative characters]

The paper presents the results of a research on studying the possibility of using the RIN, NOR and ALC mutant genes in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) breeding programs. It has been revealed that these genes do not manifest any negative pleiotropic effects that could limit their using in heterosis breeding of F1 hybrids in open ground conditions. The three-factorial ANOVA/MANOVA analysis of the influence of maternal, paternal genotypes and meteorological conditions of the year and their interaction on quantitative characters of F1 hybrids, heterozygous for the RIN, NOR and ALC ripening mutants, revealed that the plant height was influenced significantly by the paternal genotype (95,95 percent), whereas the influence of maternal genotype was only of 2,03 percent. The number of clusters and fruits per plant were determined in a great measure by the meteorological conditions (65,02 and 45,87 percent respectively); the fruit mass - by the paternal genotype (63,27 percent), as well as by the interaction of the maternal and paternal genotypes (26,43 percent); the yield of tomato plants, on cultivation in open ground conditions, was reliably (P0.05) influenced by the paternal genotype (23,67 percent) and the meteorological conditions of the year (42,39 percent).
