Three experiments were carried out to evaluate the efficacy of the Cultar and Argent Paclobutrazol (ARPAC)on inducing flowering and fruiting of carabao mango (Mangifera indica Linn.). The experiments were carried out on mango trees of varying ages of four, seven and 22 years old in the municipalities of Carmen and Kabacan, Cotabato from February 2005 to March 2006. ARPAC at rates of 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 g ai/linear meter (1m) and Cultar at the rate of 1.0 g ai/lm were mixed with water and drenched in the soil around the base of the mango trees at two months before the application of potassium nitrate to induce flowering . Both ARPAC and Cultar increased the flowering intensity of all treated mango trees of varying ages from poor to moderate in four year old trees and from poor to excellent in seven and 22 years old trees. Consequently, both chemicals increased the number of flower inflorescence/tree, the length of inflorescence at the lowest rate of 0.5 but not at 1.0 and 1.5 g ai/lm. Moreover, both ARPAC and Cultar increased the number of fruits both at thumb-size and at harvest and so with the fruit yield. The highest increase in yield was brought about by the application of ARPAC at the rate of 1.5 g ai/lm in four year old trees was from 3.67 to 9.55 kg/tree and in seven year old trees are from 8.50 to 24.25 kg/tree. In 22 year-old trees there was an increased in yield from 49.25 to 170.5 kg/tree in plants at the rate of 1.0g ai/lm. In all these three varying ages of mango, the rates of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 g ai/lm brought about increase in yield. Economic analysis indicate that highest profit was attained when ARPAC was applied at rate of 0.5 g ai/lm in four year old trees and at the rate of 1.0 g ai/lm in seven and 22 year old trees.
